Isoflavone Intake lowers Blood Pressure

At the start of menopause, cholesterol and blood pressure rise. It is considered that the cause is reduction of estrogen. We confirmed this by animal tests as below-mentioned.

Animal studies showed that if the ovary of a mouse was removed the blood pressure rises, but in the case of where such mice were administered isoflavones for two weeks, it was confirmed that the blood pressure became lower than that prior to ovary removal.

We have examined the relation between isoflavones and blood pressure for humans in various regions.
As a part of the intervention studies, a group of Scottish people with high heart diseases risk factors were asked to take jelly containing 50mg isoflavones daily for 4 weeks. The results showed that the urinary isoflavones increased, the blood pressure became substantially lower, while no changes were observed among the placebo group.
