Walking combined with Fujiflavone intake prevents Bone Loss and reduces Body Fat

Following the excellent results of the previously mentioned Animal Study, an Intervention Study, 'Walking exercise + Isoflavone intake', was carried out on women recruited through advertisement.
Fujicco and the National Institute of Health and Nutrition jointly performed a long term intervention study on women within 5 years after menopause.
The 136 women were formed into 4 groups, BMD and various body compositions were measured before the start of the trial and at 3, 6 and 12 months after the start.
The 4 groups were ①Placebo group, ②Isoflavone (Fujiflavone P40 capsule 47mg/day) group, ③Exercise group (Walking 45 minutes 3 times a week) and ④Isoflavone+Exercise group. The participants ingested isoflavone total 76mg every day including dietary isoflavones.

The results of the measurements by DXA method at the end of the year one trial revealed a great effect on bone density at the most vulnerable region for breakage, femoral Ward's triangle, while the Placebo group showed a decline. Nearly a 5% increase was observed in the combined group ④ and maintenance of the level in the Isoflavone group ② and Exercise group ③.
According to the body composition study conducted at the same time, it was proven that the Isoflavone plus exercise had significant restricting effect on the change rate of trunk fat mass which contain much visceral fat to which metabolic syndrome is attributed.

As for the comparison results of the whole body bone density change rates of the equol-producing participants which numbered approximately half of them, and the non-producing participants the change rate (decrease) of the equol-producing participants of isoflavone intake group was restrained to be about one third of that of the non-producing ones. The placebo group did not show much difference from the equol-producing ones and the non-producing.
